Jane Dunnewold Workshop 1/26/2011

Visiting artist Jane Dunnewold was brought to the University of Louisville to give a lecture on her recent series of work Etudes: A Daily Practice. Preceeding this lecture, Jane was kind enough to lead our Fibers class in a Soy wax workshop. We used various techniques to apply hot soy wax to muslin. After the soy wax was dry we then painted the pieces with a dye based paint. After letting the paint set for a week, we were able to apply hot water and the wax melted off. The places where the wax was applied became the white portions of the works. These were the products...

I also had two other pieces that I deconstructed and pieced together in my fusing piece, pictured in February 24th's blog post! :)
